We Walk By Faith

This Christian Fiction and Thoughts on Practical Approaches to Christian Living are my Attempts to Walk by Faith. What are Yours?

SEASONS OF LOVE, SECOND CHANCES

Thinking about how much God loves us, how patient He is, how slow to anger, I got the notion to write about second chances, the ones we should offer to others and the all-important second chance Jesus provided for us all, nailed up on that cross.

What follows are three novellas, each exploring the concept of second chances, but otherwise unconnected. In one, a couple rekindles their high school romance. Another explores two broken people who need to accept God’s healing in order to commit to each other. Finally, an older couple must overcome a crisis in their marriage just in a time of their lives when they should be powerful forces for spreading God’s goodness.

The Spider Web Principle of Faith

On Faith

The power of faith truly lived is every bit as strong as that gossamer spider’s web. It saves us from worry. It keeps us in the presence of our almighty God. It hugs us in the deepest places of hurt and opens our darkest parts to the light. There is a reason why Jesus tells us the faith of a mustard seed, such a tiny, tiny particle, is enough to move a mountain.

God Has This

God Leads

Reading this story for the fifth or tenth time in my life in these last weeks, this truth imprinted itself on me. Why do I let anxiety keep me from facing each day knowing that GOD HAS THIS? If I believe that God controls my destiny, and I do, then why let all the tiny things that worry my anxiety-riddled brain get to me? Remembering that God Has This when I start to worry or fret has helped me get a better hold on my anxiety.

You Gotta Serve Somebody

Serve Somebody

God's love differs from the world's view of love. In this world, people want to think love means letting everyone do whatever feels "right" in the moment. With this view of love, a God who calls us to a standard of goodness and morality doesn't click. But God's love calls us to believe in something bigger than we are, so much bigger that we have no way to comprehend its vastness.

A Love of Her Own by Ramona Levacy, Coming Soon
Bess Taylor has a problem, but really that is nothing new.  Married for only six months, she's already a widow thanks to the war in Vietnam. She could go on living as before, sharing a small apartment with three other hard-working women, belonging to no one and having next to nothing.

The problem is, Bess' soldier husband left her with a legacy, a tiny baby growing under Bess' lonely heart.

Seeking the support she needs to bring a child into the world, Bess goes to her late husband's family. His brother Judd, a cowboy and the local sheriff, has a black stare that seems to see right through Bess, right down to her darkest, best-kept secrets. Agnes, her mother-in-law, is a different story. That woman's kind nature and loving personality convince Bess to stay.

Just when Bess thinks she might finally make a home for herself with the Taylors, the kind of home she never had growing up as an orphan, a dark figure from her past looms up to threaten the fragile peace Bess has discovered.

Will her past force Bess to run away from the closest thing to family she has ever known, or will she finally find what her lonely heart has always sought--a love of her own?

Neely Watts has a hole in her heart, put there by her only love, the one man she can never have. Or can she?

Fire in the Bones
Neely Watts has come to the Jessup Ranch in search of answers. Twelve years after being dumped at the altar and regardless of her success as a country singer, Neely has a hole in her heart that nothing, not even fame and fortune, seems to fill.

When Neely returns to her Texas roots hoping to find a happiness that has eluded her ever since that fateful day when Tom Rice gave his name to another girl, the last thing she expects to discover is her need for a relationship with God.

But before she comes to truly understand the importance knowing God plays in her life, Neely also has to come to terms with her past. Tom Rice, now a widower, offers Neely a second chance at the life she should have had, if she can forgive him for breaking her heart. And then, there is Antonio Ramos, a successful neurosurgeon who makes Neely see herself in a new light.

And quietly, in the background, Mordecai Jessup offers Neely the one thing she doesn’t even realize she’s been missing, a relationship with her Savior Christ, upon Whose promises alone Neely can truly depend.
